December 2021
It was the week after Christmas in the "between times" between Christmas and New Year, when no-one is quite sure what to do with themselves (unless of course they are travelling madly trying to see all the relatives). I took my motorbike, Timmy the Tiger, out to Budleigh Salterton, on the South Devon coast, to visit a pebbly beach to gain inspiration for a pebbly beach blanket. I wanted to use some recycled yarn from Stylecraft, but the colours were a bit limited, so I went for a wintery, washed-out, scene. The day was perfect, with a churning grey sea and dark-ish sky.

For the pebbles, I used "Bubble" stitch, which is a bit more complex compared to the simple knits and purls I had used for the previous patterns. There is an element of jeopardy in this stitch which adds a bit of excitement and offers the opportunity for a beginner to stretch their skills!

The instructions and patterns for this blanket can be found in the book "The Art of Landscape knitting" available via bookmarkedhub or any good book store.
